For those of you looking for coastal interior design inspiration, I am so excited about this absolutely gorgeous new bath project for a client who is equally as enthusiastic! The pallet is calming and soft, perfect for relaxing while taking a bath.
I want to be transported to the sea by this beautiful wallpaper from Cole & Son and that is the inspiration for the entire pallet. I love how the paper not only gives a metallic shine, but also introduces pattern and movement in a subtle way. I am also going to pop that little bit of blue green color from the whales and turtles with ceiling paint; placing a little strategic color on the ceiling is always an unexpected detail.
The tile is selected with texture and brightness in mind. A glass opalescent tile will wrap the shower. As an added bonus, the tile repeats the brush texture found in the wallpaper and shines like beach glass. The flooring is porcelain with a linen texture for a fabric-like subtle and soft look. It has just a hint of sparkle too.
Keeping in theme, I am selecting a driftwood finish for the vanity and we will top it off with a maintenance free Calcutta gold like quartz countertop. The brushed brass knobs add nice pop and I think I will repeat it with the lighting. I am leaning toward a brushed nickel for the faucetry though...Although a girl can always change her mind ; ). Stay tuned for the results!
